Just be warned once you buy your child one of these books, you will eventually have to get the whole set!Not sure what it is about these books, but my daughter is obsessed. I work in education, so I can say that it's very common. Once one of my students reads one book, they cannot wait to read the rest of the series!These are simple easy books with simple graphics. My daughter is a 2nd grader who reads at about a 5-6 level, and she absolutely loves these books. She reads them over and over, and it takes her about 2 minutes to read one full book.Each of these books has a subliminal life lesson as well. They focus on feelings, without making feelings an awkward subject. Highly recommend them, even if your child is an advanced reader...they will still love these.I initally felt like they were a waste of money because they're so easy for my daugter to read, but after I saw how much she genuinely loves them, they were worth every penny.She especially loves reading them to her little cousins and friends. They have a lot of expression (yelling, excited, ALL CAP WORDS, sighing, sadness, etc.) So they help my daughter practice her expressional reading where she reads without trying to speed read or sounding like a monotone robot! :)

We first heard about the Elephant and Piggie books by Mo Willems from school (they are in 4K) since they are popular books in classroom libraries, along with the Pigeon books. We borrowed all of the them from our public library and my kids loved them so much that we are working on buying our own copies!I Broke My Trunk! is another wonderful book in the Elephant and Piggie series by acclaimed children's author Mo Willems. As usual, Elephant and Piggie are hilarious and the friendship between the two of them is perfect for young kids to read about. I'm not going to provide a synopsis of the book since I don't want to give the story away. You are going to want to buy this book. Buy all of the Elephant and Piggie books! Trust me!This book is a Theodor Seuss Geisel Honor Book. It is a beautiful hardcover with thick, paperback pages so they will withstand many, many readings through the story (which will happen!). The book is 57 pages long. We can generally read these books in about five minutes.I cannot tell you how much our whole family enjoys these books! Even my husband and I find them hilarious! They are short stories and some pages only have a couple words on them but they are stories kids will want to read over and over again. My kids are even starting to read and these books have helped a lot. There are plenty of opportunities to spell words and point out sentences and pretty soon, your kids will be reciting them back to you. What an amazing thing to find a series of books that help your kids read!These books are perfect for the four to eight-year-old crowd but there is no reason kids younger and older wouldn't enjoy them either.Overall, buy this book. You won't be disappointed at all! Kids love Mo Willems and discovering these books has impacted my twins so much! They are wonderful stories of friendship with plenty of humor. We are Mo fans for life (or until my kids outgrow these books)!
My Son was given a Mo Williams book for his 3rd birthday.. He loved it..and laughed at the facial expressions that Elephant would make. I bought him more books, and he loves each one. My son just turned 6 these Mo Williams books are still his favorite books. Always asks me to read them to him. Still cracks up each time.They are very well written and very cute stories. The pictures are very clear and cute. Especially Elephant's expressions and what he says, makes my son laugh every time. Im using these books now to help him read, and he is reading well each time.Highly Recommend these books.. All of them.. :)
My 4 year old finds these and most of the Elephant Piggie series hilarious! (So do mom and dad) It's the first series he can read on his own. It's the perfect length and word choice is fantastic. We have most of them now in the hardback format which definitely adds up cost wise, but if you can order through Scholastic, they have them at a much better price in paperback. Keep in mind the Scholastic paper stuff is truly that.... paper thin. So make sure your kids are gentle on their books. "I will take a Nap" is another favorite!
my daughter's aunt got this for her when she was in the hospital & my daughter just LOVES this book! I'm also very quite fond of it, myself, so I definitely enjoy reading it to her to help her sleep for both: her nap and at bedtime. the very first time I read this to my daughter, while she was still in the hospital, she just sat & listened to me read & looked at the pictures.. for most of the book, anyway.. but I was amazed because my daughter is VERY active & it is pretty hard to get her to sit still & listen. my daughter is only 2-1/2 but, still, I know she loves this book and she repeats words back to me while I'm reading this to her, which is just too cute! it's also great, because even though she talks a lot anyway, it's helping with her word development even more. I'm definitely going to get all of the other elephant & piggie books, as well. if you have a little one at home, you really do need to get this book; ntm, the price is amazingly unbelievable!
My 5 year old has recently learned to read and she loves reading the part of Piggie in all the Elephant and Piggie books. This is another favorite! She loves reading about how Gerald breaks his trunk. As parents we love this book because it flows great and is easy enough for her to read along.
My daughter loves these books i went ahead and bought her 4 other ones as well. Only complaint is that i wish they had more of the bigfer collections with multiple stories. Im sure they probably havent gotten around to doing another collection yet. Other than that these are great my kid enjoys bed time because she gets to read which is nice.
