I purchased this book, suggested by a clinical psychologist in a church we visited, after going through an agonizing three plus year ongoing ordeal with someone who fits the characteristics described in this book. You can look at it from two perspectives: the spiritual one, and the control aspect (borderline personality disorder). Either way, I was enlightened to this type of personality, the characteristics of this kind of person, and how they think. This book, although Christian, expanded my understanding into the secular arena enough to relate to my experiences. It explained to me why I was targeted by this person, explained her actions, and furthermore, provided suggestions on how to avoid this type of person, and many of the conflicts they generate. The chapter "Characteristics of a Jezebel" was particularly helpful in assessing this type of personality. Once you have read this, if you have had the unfortunate experience of this type of this person, you will immediately get chills down your spine. While "Unmasking the Jezebel Spirit" (Jackson) is more highly rated, Sampson's treatise is far more relevant to real life situations outside the church. Jackson's book is more targeted at pastors and church leaders. Sampson's book is essential reading for anyone facing a controlling, evil driven personality in their lives. It will open your eyes.

What an eye-opener for me. I have been controlled by Jezebels my entire life and I just discovered that I am an Ahab! What a shock! From infancy I was set up to be passive and to please others. My mother truly loved me, but she also controlled me. Then I married at the tender age of 19, and my husband took over and he was just like her. I guess I knew how to operate in this kind of relationship. I was so clueless and gullible that I walked right Into another bad relationship, but then I had two Jezebels to please. I couldn't do enough, or be enough, to make either of them happy. It was like throwing love into a black hole in outer space.Everyone needs to read this. You won't know if you are a Jezebel (Narcissist), or and Ahab (passive) personality-- who takes the path of least resistance-- until you do!

i 'knew' about the spirit of Jezebel because we've run up against it a time or two in the church, but i didn't UNDERSTAND it because i'd never heard anyone really talk about it. for instance, i didn't know that the Jezebel spirit could control men as well as women. duh! i just hadn't thought of it in that way. but it's not like demonic spirits are very discerning...if you're open, they see you as available and bam! i also 'knew' about the Ahab spirit as one of my husband's relatives could have written a book on that subject. but it's taken this book to open my eyes to and realize the difference between a strong, spirited (and Holy Ghost led) person and the Jezebel spirit operating in someone.this is a book i highly recommend to all pastors and lay people who have to deal with controlling spirits on a daily basis. i believe it will help them to understand the spirit, how to pray about it, and how to help someone who has come under its influence.written in plain English so it's easy to understand and follow, i doubt my world will ever be quite the same for having read it. i have a much clearer insight into how both the Jezebel and Ahab spirits work and the commitment it takes to defeat them both. i wish all of my family and friends had this book in their libraries.i know writing this book couldn't have been easy for Mr Samson. the spiritual battles he must have fought to bring this out in the open were probably knee-bending. so, thank you so very much, Mr Samson, for your dedication and commitment to the body of Christ and your willingness to bear any attack to see this through. God bless you!

Dealing with controlling, manipulative people - this books for you! I love the discernment and insight brought forth in this book. Understand how people operating out of the Jezebel spirit need to be dealt with. I can't recommend this book enough. Get some relief and break through from lieing, controlling, manipulative spirits. We need more Elijah's and Jehu's in the hour in which we live.Enough is enough! Cast Jezebel down!

I gave this book 5 stars because Sampson does an exceptional job in describing how the Jezebel spirit operates, while at the same time challenging the reader to check their own spiritual condition. The questions and prayers at the end of each chapter reinforces the information released in chapter while thoughfully allowing the reader to submit themselves to God through prayer. An excellent book for every minister of the gospel, whether in training or well-seasoned in ministry.

This is happening with a family member, and it has brought heartache and separation. Only through lots of prayer was I led to this book. From the first page, my jaw dropped. It was as if this book was written about this family member. Knowing the reason behind this person's behavior and putting a name and face to it has brought inner peace to me. Although confrontation and prayer are about the only things to help this situation, and that may not work, has given me at least some understanding of the situation. I would highly recommend this book to anyone faced with a controlling person in their lives- and also to those who have looked in the mirror and seen a controller looking back at them. This offers some sound advice, and specific prayers.

I’m reading this book for the second time in two weeks! It is a must read if you have been or are being abused by a narcissist. You will learn so much, don’t wait! Order an extra and pass it along. Also read Steve Sampson’s book re:Dealing with the Ahab Spirit. These books complement each other. Your eyes will be opened to the truth of this evil.

From Publishers Weekly

Dornenburg and Page, authors of Becoming a Chef and Culinary Artistry, demystify the challenge of food and beverage pairing in this exhaustive, accessible resource. Believing that the best matches create peak experiences, the authors consult with the world's most discriminating palates, who see food and drink as inseparable. With stories from such noted chefs as Daniel Boulud, Traci Des Jardins and Patrick O'Connell and a host of top sommeliers, this comprehensive collection provides a wealth of guidelines for pairings, not only by specific food, but by food type, time of day, characteristics, season and personal mood. From fast food to ethnic cuisine, they include unlikely entries such as Kentucky Fried Chicken (Pinot Noir, Gewürztraminer), oxtails (Barolo), moussaka (Retsina, Rioja), potato chips (beer, champagne) and saag paneer (Pinot Gris). While focusing primarily on wine, the authors include matches for a variety of other beverages, including tea, water, coffee, beer and spirits, and offer the pairings in reverse—what to serve if you've already selected your beverage. This encyclopedic collection is highly recommended for those who give serious thought to the flavor of each dish. 70 full-color photographs. (Oct.) This book is fantastic. A great reference for professionals and your home bookshelf as well. The format is so easy to use, and its so great that it has reverse searching from drink to food, or from food to drink. When I first started working as a sommelier some years ago the first edition of this book was a great starting point to help my knowledge. I have since given it as a gift multiple times.

As an intermediate home cook and wine lover I *love* this book. I received it as a gift years ago and use regularly. Once you read the first few chapters you won't really use them much again, though I've gone back and re-read them occasionally anyway. The core of the book is literally the "What to Drink with What you Eat" and the "What to Eat with What you Drink" sections. I am constantly flipping back and forth hoping to create harmony in the kitchen. Sometimes I begin with a decided main course then skim the suggested wine pairings; then I go to the wine selection and look for companion flavors for a side dish selection. Other times I begin with a particular wine i am curious about or am just craving at the moment and find complementing foods to prepare a menu. That's what I mean by flipping back and forth; I love it, so much fun! After years of using this book I have (thankfully) retained some knowledge and actually feel as though I have learned and advanced my wine pairing skills as well as my passion to do so.As for the Kindle edition, it needs some work. Right now it is complicated and cumbersome to use as a reference book. I would love a simplified search and shortcut method to particular wines and foods. The formatting isn't quite right either, at least on my Kindle Fire (original) and through the Kindle app on my iPhone. Save your money on the digital format, at least for the time being, and put it towards the hardcover.P.S. This book makes an excellent gift, especially when paired with a Vertical Rabbit bottle opener and, of course, a bottle of wine.

I may run out of superlatives in the course of this review, so I'm just warning you now. What to Drink with What You Eat is absolutely the most spectacular book ever written about pairing food with wine. It will turn you instantly into a world-class sommelier, confidently able to pair virtually any cuisine with a compatible choice. What's more, the recommendations extend far beyond wine to include beer, sake, spirits coffee, tea and different types of water, so even a teetotaler can derive some value. There isn't a food- or wine-lover on the planet who wouldn't benefit from having the book always on hand as a resource. The secret sauce here is that the authors, who have great credentials themselves, have also enlisted the input of dozens of top sommeliers and other authorities to create an uber-reference, one that gains considerably from its generous tendency to be more rather than less inclusive in offering up suggestions. Think of the principle of "the wisdom of crowds," but here the crowd are all experts and have the chops to back up their opinions. The list of foods, cuisines and beverages that are explored is truly encyclopedic, so odds are pretty good whatever you want advice on will be covered. For example, speaking of secret sauce, you'll even get suggested pairings with a Big Mac.The crowning glories of the book are chapters 5 and 6, which really should be turned into a searchable database online and made available via PDA. These chapters are mirror images, one that starts with the beverage and suggests foods, and the other that starts with the food and matches the drinks. I'm telling it to you straight: if you've ever had a moment's hesitation about what to bring to a dinner party or just flat out what might go best with your frozen pizza, the answer is at hand. Wanna build the meal around a special bottle of wine? No problem. In fact, I'm not sure this book isn't subversive in the sense that it does such a great job of simplifying a complicated subject and making it accessible that it renders real-life sommeliers unnecessary.Of course, that's a ridiculous notion; I'm just stating it for effect. You still need a sommelier to put together a wine list, add a personal perspective, precisely match the cuisine of a restaurant to its wines and gauge the "readiness" of any particular client to explore new territory. But if you live in New Jersey, where the only advantage of archaic, Prohibition-based liquor laws is the plethora of BYO restaurants and thus there are very few sommeliers period, this book is like manna from heaven.I don't mean to imply that What to Eat is prescriptive to the point where you aren't allowed to express yourself and exercise free will. Quite the contrary. The book does a splendid job in the first few chapters of breaking down various pairing conventions developed over the past 20 years (plus of course the most classic matches) and providing guidelines that anyone can build on, and the authors encourage imagination and experimentation.Let's go with a real life example, my first since I bought the book, and quite an "acid" test at that. I was asked by a hostess to suggest something that might go with roasted sea bass served with a Mediterranean ragout of red peppers, tomatoes, olives, and capers. My first instinct when approaching anything Mediterranean is to go with the "territory," which means for me clinging to the coastline from Provence to Sicily. Here I would have gravitated toward a white because a tannic red wouldn't go anyway and it's summer now and a chill is definitely welcome. Besides, I'm not sophisticated enough to figure out what to do with capers to begin with, so why not let a thousand years of local experience do the hard work for me? Then, I turned to chapter 5 and looked up sea bass. There were 16 suggestions, but nothing related to a Mediterranean ragout, which would clearly provide the dominant flavors to the dish. So with a little trepidation (are they going to whiff on my first challenge?), I looked for "Mediterranean" and sure enough found the following entry: "Mediterranean Cuisine (eg anchovies, olives, peppers, etc) Champagne, rose; Chateauneuf-du-pape, white; Pinot blanc; red wine, esp. tart Old World; rose; verdicchio, esp with onion-based dishes." Not feeling wholly comfortable yet, I cross-referenced the pesky caper and found: "Beaujolais, high acid; beer; Muscadet; Pinot Grigio/ Pinot gris, esp. dry; Pinot Noir, esp from Russian River Valley." That's enough breadth for anyone to find an appealing option. The genius of the book is the exhaustive number of dishes and international cuisines covered. I'm sure there are some things you can eat that aren't paired here, but I'm not sure why you would want to! Also, while it wasn't true for my sea bass, many if not most of the listings actually go a step further and provide recommendations specific to the actual method of preparation. It's not just one size fits all. Pasta with artichokes? Check. Pasta with sardines? Check. You get the idea.I haven't been this excited about a wine book in a couple of years, maybe since reading Andrew Jefford's The New France The New France: A Complete Guide to Contemporary French Wine (Mitchell Beazley Wine Guides). If you have even a passing interest in drinking wine with your meals you'd be crazy not to buy this book. It has the potential to enrich every dinner (and the occasional lunch/brunch/breakfast?/snack) you eat for the rest of your life, and if that isn't enough hyperbole, I don't know what is.

Use it daily in the restaurant. Great that it works both directions, if you have a food looking to pair a beverage, as well as in reverse if you have a new wine and want to find some ideas on what to cook to go with it for a special experience. The samples of tasting menus and pairings from restaurants are great. The author's contributions are great. The only thing that is lackluster is the last portion that asks a bunch of famous restaurant folks what they'd bring to a deserted island - not a lot of value in that.

I have read a lot of the book, but definitely use the two chapters on what food to pair with what wine and what wine goes with what food on a regular basis. Those chapters have really helped us appreciate the pairing of wine and food a lot more. I agree with other reviewers that it would be wonderful to have those two chapters as an app.

Lexile measures range from below 200L for early readers and text to above 1600L for advanced readers and materials. When used together Lexile measure help a reader find books at an appropriate level of challenge, and determine how well that reader will likely comprehend a text. When a Lexile text measure matches a Lexile reader measure, this is called a "targeted" reading experience. The reader will likely encounter some level of difficulty with the text, but not enough to get frustrated. This is the best way to grow as a reader - with text that's not too hard but not too easy.',

Now, don't get me wrong, I love Beatrix Potter and her stories. My mom gave them to me when I was little. So, when I had a little one of my own how could I resist? I got this book for his first birthday, but when I read it out loud I was disappointed. While the pictures turned out vibrant, it's a very cut-down story of the beloved Peter Rabbit with a chewed-up moralless rendition of the original story. C'mon guys, I totally understand you have to squeeze a story onto less pages for board books. But this was a sloppy way to go about it.

DO NOT ORDER THE PAPERBACK. I wish I had read the reviews, but I guess I was in a hurry. I thought this would be a decent rendition of the beloved children's book "The Tale of Peter Rabbit." This is a joke. It looks like someone photo-copied it. The images aren't even centered on the page. It's only a little bigger than the size of my iPhone. So sad. So sad that amazon would even allow this to be sold.

Is this a joke? Amazon you've failed me here! No way would this book ever be found in an actual store because no one would buy it if given the chance to see it in real life first. Tiny, so tiny in fact it's hard to turn the pages. Terrible quality overall, super thin pages, and horribly pixelated, faint images. The worst quality book I've ever bought hands down.

These books are just as I remember from my childhood. I hope my daughter gets as much enjoyment out of them as i did.Peter Rabbit is a story of a rambunctious little rabbit who does not listen to his mother. He goes on an adventure and nearly gets caught by the farmer. As he is running from the farmer he gets tangled up and loses his shoes and his jacked. He makes it back home and immediately get put to bed without supper. The illustrations are well done in this book. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading it to my daughter.

The copy I got was terrible. It looks photocopied, or as if it was printed on a personal inkjet printer. It is vine with glue and hard to open.I just read that amazon reviews are not based on the actual product version, but on the story, so as another customer said, be careful when selecting which version to buy.

This is the second of the same baby book that I've bought. I thought about getting a different one for my second child for interests sake but I ultimately knew I would be disappointed with anything else (and so, probably, would they). This is a GREAT baby book! My search was long and hard. There are a lot of not great ones out there, and a lot of the more interesting ones aren't sweet and baby-themed enough. This is a throw-back, with Peter Rabbit, but it is also modern enough to look back on and be reminded of the baby's first year, and what those good-ole-days were really like. NOSTALGIA! I love that it's printed in Italy, instead of China; that it's made responsibly (you can read about that); that's it's such great quality - it will NEVER fall apart; that it's not silly and is pretty standard with firsts and a family tree and places for pictures of things that matter; that it has sweet, but not distracting, pictures (you can write right on top of them if you need the space); and that it expects reasonable amounts of time and effort from you but feels full and sufficient. It has a pocket in the back too, to store some things. Mostly it just doesn't annoy the ever-loving crap out of me, like most of the other's certainly would have.

A remake of the vintage Beatrix Potter Peter Rabbit tales. This version of less than thirty pages does not match the original collection of Peter Rabbit tales, but it is a nice introduction to the lessons of Peter for younger children. It lacks the lyrical language and appears curt in a few sections. On the other hand, the essential story is present. Peter, unlike his siblings, Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cotton-tail, cannot avoid containing his curiosity and disobeying his mother. He soon finds himself being chased by Farmer McGregor facing a fate similar to his father. Peter is a clever fellow, but he has several narrow escapes. In the end, his siblings do seem to be properly rewarded, while he remains the black sheep of the family. The watercolor illustrations are not quite as muted and are more modern. They do an adequate job of portraying the action for young readers. I would recommend the book especially for preschoolers

What can I say? I'm a rabbit lover and have loved the tale of Peter Rabbit from childhood. This coloring book not only contains many nice printed pictures to color but also contains the story as well. The book's covers contain color images of several of the pictures that are available for coloring in case you may need some guidance. The images are what you would expect from the Beatrix Potter books so if your looking for a coloring book that is what you may remember as a child, this is it.I believe the pictures are pretty simple so that even some older children could color them. The backgrounds can be a little challenging since they seem to be a little less detail and so is open more to your imagination on how to fill in. Overall, I love this coloring book and am having fun with it.
